SB-Cal ACTION INITIATIVES
SB-Cal is a non-partisan small business
advocacy organization. We're about supporting
legislative bills in Sacramento and bringing your small
business concerns to CA Legislators to help craft solutions.
SB-Cal ACTION INITIATIVES are about
creating solutions where we believe existing problems within
SB-Cal Core Issue Areas offer an opportunity to effect
significant & measurable improvements.
Example: Building
Operator Certification training expansion
SB-Cal Core Issue Areas: Energy,
Workforce
Development
Problem:
- Energy costs rising: electricity,
gas, water
- Too much wasted energy consumed in
too many CA buildings where high HVAC, refrigeration
water and lighting costs lower small business
sustainability & diminish CA competitiveness
compared to other states with lower energy costs,
- Not enough building operators
properly trained to maximize energy efficiency, demand
response and distributed generation opportunities,
- Too few mainstream educational
opportunities for this technical training.
The SB-Cal ACTION INITIATIVE is designed
to recognize the existing successful, albeit limited
availability of Building
Operator Certification training available in California
and work to triple the number of affordable opportunities
for this training in California by January 1, 2007.
